Bring your catalyst.
Velara integrates proprietary and non-proprietary catalysts onto Strato™. The catalyst chemistry is never Velara’s own.
Velara makes none of its own catalysts. We work with proprietary and non-proprietary catalysts to produce both private and publicly available cathodes.
Velara deposits catalyst onto Strato™ through a multi-pass spray process, building discrete, ultrathin layers in sequence with controlled drying between each pass. In contrast, single-pass coating, doctor-blade slurry casting and brush or dip methods lay down thick, wet films that shrink unevenly as they dry. The results are mud-cracking, clogged pores and unequal loading.
Sequential deposition instead gives uniform thickness, an open and controlled pore network, high catalyst utilization and strong adhesion to the woven, carbon-based backing. It uses less catalyst per unit area, and the result repeats from the first square meter to full production scale.
Every partner catalyst is applied to Strato™, a carbon-based backing engineered for consistency, durability and scale. We are not a competitor in chemistry. We are the platform that carries it to market.
Non-proprietary catalyst. Marketed by Velara.
Velara selects proven, commercially available catalysts, integrates them onto Strato™ and brings the finished cathode to market under the Velara name, owning qualification, production and commercial delivery end to end. Strato-X01™ and Strato-X02™ define this portfolio and are available to qualified customers today.
Non-proprietary catalyst. Marketed jointly.
Partners gain immediate access to a qualified Velara cathode and market it in parallel with Velara, extending reach across both commercial networks. It is the fastest route to a differentiated cathode offering, with no development program required.
Proprietary catalyst. Reserved for the partner.
We build a private cathode by integrating your proprietary catalyst onto our Strato™ backing. The cathode is yours alone to sell, and your intellectual property remains entirely your own. It is built for catalyst developers who want their technology realized at commercial scale, without building a manufacturing operation of their own.

Velara integrates proprietary and non-proprietary catalysts onto Strato™. The catalyst chemistry is never Velara’s own.
02
The catalyst is deposited onto Strato™ through a controlled multi-pass spray process. The backing then governs gas transport, electrolyte management and electrical conductivity across the electrode.
03
A single backing and a single application process carry the cathode from prototype to commercial production, without the partner building a manufacturing operation of its own.
A proprietary catalyst integrated onto Strato™ yields a private cathode, reserved for the partner who supplies it.
Velara makes no catalysts and holds no position in catalyst chemistry. Partner intellectual property remains entirely the partner’s own.
Strato™ carries more than 100,000 cumulative operating hours of independent third-party validation in high-humidity electrochemical systems under high load.
Sequential spray deposition yields uniform catalyst loading and an open, controlled pore network, avoiding the cracking and pore clogging typical of single-pass methods.
Strato™ and its application process are engineered for commercial-scale manufacturing, maintaining consistent performance from prototype to production.
Cathodes reach the market through Velara, through the partner’s own channels, or through both in parallel.
No. Velara makes none of its own catalysts. It works with proprietary and non-proprietary catalysts supplied by third parties.
A publicly available cathode, such as Strato-X01™ or Strato-X02™, uses a non-proprietary catalyst and is offered to any qualified customer. A private cathode uses a partner’s proprietary catalyst, is reserved for that partner, and can be sold through Velara or the partner’s own channels.
